Global human mobility has dramatically expanded in the past two decades, leading to a rise in Europe of the number of medical encounters related to Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) among travelers and migrants. While most NTDs remain mainly restricted to tropical areas, a set of them is frequently diagnosed in travel clinics, including dengue, schistosomiasis, strongyloidiasis and leishmaniasis. These four conditions account nowadays for up to 7% of all medical consultations in European travel clinics, no data being available for the primary care settings. In this Chapter, the current epidemiology and management of the main travel-related NTDs are updated, with a focus on the recent advances in diagnosis and therapy in the non-endemic setting. NTDs which are endemic in some parts of Europe and the particular situation of Chagas disease are addressed in other chapters of this book.
