Addressing Social Determinants of Health to Accelerate Disease Elimination

About the event

Social determinants of health are essential in accelerating the elimination of communicable diseases. In 2019, PAHO’s Directing Council approved a sustainable framework aimed at eliminating over 30 communicable diseases and related conditions by 2030. This initiative strengthens countries' capacities to eliminate diseases through four key pillars: integrating health services, reinforcing information and surveillance systems, addressing social and environmental determinants, and improving governance and finance systems.

Co-hosted by the Pan American Health Organization and the Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases, this webinar will explore tools and approaches to incorporate social determinants into programmatic actions to address health equity and increase effectiveness of activities, drawing from regional experiences and innovative frameworks.
