Insight into LF elimination efforts in Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda

Webinar description: The webinar will focus on sharing the findings and insights of the social and behavioral determinants affecting Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) elimination efforts in Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda, respectively. The presenters will focus on the process of conducting rapid assessments and the subsequent design and co-creation activities. While each of the three countries have contextual nuances, there are significant similarities in the challenges faced and the recommended strategies for Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions.
Moderator: Leah Wohlgemuth is the Deputy Technical Director for Neglected Tropical Diseases at Sightsavers, focusing on behavior change and the integration of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Prior to serving as Deputy Technical Director, Leah has contributed to multiple projects including two large scale trachoma grants, and the coordination efforts between WASH and NTD sectors in Ethiopia. Leah holds a Masters of Science in Public Health from the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Speaker: Geordie Woods is a technical director on neglected tropical diseases for Sightsavers, focusing on social and behavior change and the integration of water hygiene and sanitation programming into NTDs programs. He works with multiple organizations across these sectors, spearheading innovative partnerships. His areas of expertise include strategic communication design, mass media and community mobilization, and advocacy.
Speaker: Robert Bob Okello is a Technical Adviser-Social and Behavior Change Analyst based in Kampala, Uganda. He attained an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has led behavioral assessments across Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda, focusing on the social and behavioral determinants affecting Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) elimination efforts. Bob brings expertise in designing and co-creating SBC interventions tailored to local contexts. His work emphasizes community engagement, evidence-based strategies, and cross-country learning. He is passionate about driving sustainable health outcomes through behavior-centered approaches.
