GPDD - Global Partnership for Disability and Development
The Global Program for Disability and Development (GPDD) is an international network of organizations and entities (developing countries, bilateral and multilateral agencies, NGOs, foundations) formed to accelerate inclusion of people with disabilities into mainstream social and economic development. GPDD partners pledge to work together to advance integration of disabilities issues and people with disabilities into mainstream social and economic development policies, programs, and budgets. The GPDD complements efforts of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People.
The expected outcomes of the GPDD are:
- improved knowledge and data in the field of disability and development, and on inclusive development best practice
- strengthened cooperation among, and capacity of, diverse stakeholders (Disabled People’s Organizations-DPOs, other NGOs, governments and development organizations) at the global and local levels in accelerating the integration of disability concerns into mainstream economic development efforts.
