Ivermectin and albendazole against Trichuris trichiura: a long and winding road

In 2010, the WHO roadmap for soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infection aimed at widening the preventive chemotherapy coverage for school-aged children, which was mostly achieved with 70% coverage reached in most sub-Saharan African countries by 2017. The 2030 WHO roadmap focuses on the elimination of STH comorbidities in countries that have already achieved 75% coverage of preventive chemotherapy and control of infection.
