Rapid Serologic Test for Diagnosis of Yaws in Patients with Suspicious Skin Ulcers

The Chembio DPP (Dual Path Platform) Syphilis Screen & Confirm kit is a rapid serologic test that can be used to diagnose yaws. We evaluated its capacity to detect patients with ulcers that tested PCR positive for Treponema pallidum subsp. pertenue. DPP detected 84% of ulcers that were positive by PCR.
